Release the Heart Series

I recently lost my 93-year-old mom and am celebrating her life with this heart series.  She was so loving to us kids and to everyone she came in contact with ... she always released her heart to those around her.

As I created these pieces, I was remembering my mom and all the love she gave us, and all the love that she spread to others throughout her life.  She was truly my muse and continues to be.  Her creative force is infused in me and in each of my sisters. I miss her but know she is with my dad once again.  I'm grateful for the last 3 years of time I had with her and am forever grateful to have had such an amazing woman as my mom.

The hearts are made with alcohol ink on brushed aluminum, mounted to wood panels and topped with a resin coating.  I used a glass candy dish to imprint the shape of the heart. How fitting to use candy dishes ... Mom would have loved that!

My alcohol ink hearts are part of my heart collection.  Alcohol ink on brushed aluminum, screwed to wood panels.  Each piece has a wire on the back for easy hanging.  All are 8" x 8" x 3/4".
